East Hills

Laura took me out for a pre-birthday dinner yesterday at a local Thai restaurant. It has been the most perfect 24th birthday! It's been full of flowers, balloons, presents & even a doughnut cake for my breakfast from the hubby. I'm so thankful to have people in my life that completely fill up my heart!

Traverse City

Last Friday I headed to Traverse City for both work and leisure. After a meeting with a client and scoping out the The Village at Traverse City Commons, I spent the rest of the evening with Steven.
We grabbed some delicious tacos and tamales at this adorable little authentic restaurant called Spanglish, which was honestly some of the best food I've ever had. That meal was followed up by some jaw-droppingly good chocolate dripped frozen cheesecake on a stick from the Underground Cheesecake Company. Mind: blown.
We drove around through the vineyards, went mini golfing, watched the sunset over the lake, and relaxed. It was cold, windy, and rainy but I managed to have such an awesome time regardless.

Saturday morning we headed over to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. In 2011 this park was named the "Most Beautiful Place in America". Pretty awesome, right? It was Steven's first time there so it was really exciting to see his reaction to all of the breathtaking stops on the scenic trail.

Since we were already in Glen Arbor, we made a quick pit stop at Cherry Republic before hitting the road. It's another favorite place of mine where everything in their shops are made from cherries. Cherry wine, cherry salsa, cherry chocolate, cherry soda, etc. The best.

It was an awesome trip and a nice break from reality for a minute. Traverse City is such a beautiful place to be during this time of year. I already can't wait to go back.

Wealthy Street

One of the positive things about our old house on Paris was how close it was to some bakeries and coffee shops. Laura and I decided to re-visit one of our favorites for some cinnamon rolls at Wealthy Street Bakery (check out these bad boys). Now that we've consumed our daily amount of sugar for the entire day, it's time to tackle this Thursday!

Tomorrow is Friday!! It's going to be a fun-filled weekend and I can't wait to share some moments from my Traverse City trip. Fingers crossed that I have some time for wine tasting. What's a trip to northern Michigan without homemade wine?

The Blue Brick Wall

Laura and I took a moment before our busy day began to meet up and have coffee. Sometimes it feels difficult to get anything done because you're too busy with work & life, but starting my day chit-chatting with my cousin is always a great decision. I read in a Howard Schultz book that coffee shops are like a 3rd place for people: it's not your house or where you work. It transforms into a place where you learn, talk, read, listen & connect with others. We're pretty lucky to have so many great ones in Grand Rapids.
We recently received these awesome frames from Firmoo.com and we love them! Laura chose these wayfarers and Katelyn went these round frames. Check out their website and choose from dozens of different styles, shapes and colors! Which ones would you pick?

Laura is heading up to Traverse City on Friday for some work research on Sleeping Bear Dunes. Can we say best job ever? After getting some work done, she'll be wine tasting and soaking in all northern Michigan has to offer. It's really beautiful up there.
