Frederik Meijer Gardens

Last night I went to see the Kari Lynch Band play at the outdoor amphitheater at Frederik Meijer Gardens with great friends. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful evening. The weather was PERFECT for the first time in weeks. It was so nice to sit in the lawn on a blanket and watch our talented friends play awesome music.

Travel Tuesday: Napa Valley

So for the second half of our honeymoon, we headed out to Napa Valley ( this is Katelyn speaking if you didn't catch on ;). Alex is the aficionado in wine so I let him take the reigns on this portion of our trip. Our first tour was with Opus Winery. Their equipment was top notch and really impressive and their terrace was absolutely beautiful. I tried to not embarrass Alex by taking too many photos, but I simply couldn't resist here.

I'm salivating just looking at this photo below.

Alex is a manager at a restaurant here in Grand Rapids at six.one.six so he set up a few tastings with us at different wineries. Out of all the wineries we went to, I think we would both agree that Celani Vineyards stood out the most. There is no tasting room for their vineyard, but we were able to visit the property and taste some wines. We were in love with the gorgeous grapes, the fantastic wine, but mostly the genuine hospitality. Don't get me wrong, I love wine, but the company and situation make or break a wine for me and we were in the best company here. We loved being able to drive up and down the roads and stopping at places we recognized along the way.

Here we are at our fancy dinner date at Bottega. It was SO good! Alex had the most delicious risotto with salmon, while I got the pasta carbonara. I highly recommend it to all the foodies out there.

Katelyn's Honeymoon Update:San Francisco!

Alex and I are officially back from our awesome Honeymoon! We had such a great time together on our first solo travel experience. The first few days we stayed near San Francisco. On the first night we found really cheap tickets to the Giants baseball game that night! It was so much fun that we decided to add visiting every baseball stadium in the United States to our bucket list (yes, Alex and I have our very own bucket list!). It was right on the bay so we had an excellent view of the ocean as well. Here's a look at the gorgeous stadium:

The next day we headed back downtown to do touristy San Francisco things like Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiradhelli Square for an ice cream sundae ( per my request ;) and we ended with an amazing night tour of Alcatraz! This was probably my favorite day of the vacation. Check it out for yourself!

And a few photos from Alcatraz-

And my favorite. Yes...that is Alex.

I'm so lucky to have this guy as my husband and I cannot wait to see what marriage has in store for us!

p.s. stay tuned for tomorrow's Travel Tuesday with the second half of our Honeymoon in Napa & Sonoma! <3

Texaco Country Showdown - Local Competition

Last night Steve and his band competed in the regional round of the Texaco Country Showdown in Muskegon.  The event was held at the Fricano Event Center on Muskegon Lake.  There were 7 local contestants and it was SO great to see some local talent compete for the title of the regional winner.

And first place went to.... The Steve Rivers Band!

So proud of these guys! I can't wait to see how they do at the State Competition in Bay City in two weeks!

A San Francisco Honeymoon

...and she's off!
Katelyn and Alex packed up their bags and headed to northern California for their romantic wine-lovers honeymoon this past weekend. Let's all wish her a fabulous time!

Although she's away for the week, I'll leave you with a few cute photos of her and her beau in San Francisco.

Wishing you both the best time ever!
