The Blue Brick Wall

Laura and I took a moment before our busy day began to meet up and have coffee. Sometimes it feels difficult to get anything done because you're too busy with work & life, but starting my day chit-chatting with my cousin is always a great decision. I read in a Howard Schultz book that coffee shops are like a 3rd place for people: it's not your house or where you work. It transforms into a place where you learn, talk, read, listen & connect with others. We're pretty lucky to have so many great ones in Grand Rapids.

 Laura is heading up to Traverse City on Friday for some work research on Sleeping Bear Dunes. Can we say best job ever? After getting some work done, she'll be wine tasting and soaking in all northern Michigan has to offer. It's really beautiful up there.

The weekend definitely went by too quickly. Actually, everything seems to be going by really quickly. It's practically mid-June already and Laura's wedding is only 3 months away. Due to it being wedding season now, both of our calendars are filling up quickly with all kinds of events. Being busy is great though, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

The Limited: Exclusive Shopping Event

Last night I attended an exclusive shopping party at The Limited hosted by my friend Kaitlyn of Artisan Happiness. Because she's such an avid Limited shopper, it just made sense to have an event there. We got some incredible discounts and they had such fun summery prints and designs. I, of course, found another dress that would be perfect for all of the bridal events coming up. Bought it. When in Rome, right?

Early Birds

The two of us had another early morning coffee date before work this morning.  Sometimes it feels impossible to roll out of bed even earlier than the usual work alarm goes off, but it always ends up being worth it when getting caffeine in our systems bright and early to kick start the work day.

 If you haven't noticed, the past few days I (Katelyn) have been wearing more business type clothing because I got a promotion at work and I get to join the rest of the world on deciding what to wear in the AM! I'm so used to putting on whatever I can grab first and not worrying about it because I had a uniform to throw on, but now I actually get to decide. That my friends, is a beautiful privilege. I'm so happy to be moving up with my company and I can't wait to see what the future has for Alex and myself!

Light Leak

I don't know about everyone else, but boy have we been busy lately! With work, family, friends, weddings and everything in-between we were thankful just to take an hour to spend some time together. Summer has finally (sorta) showed up in Michigan, and we're absolutely taking advantage of the sunshine and warmth. You can really notice a difference in the general moods of everyone in Michigan when we finally get our recommended dose of Vitamin D. I'm so looking forward to dates at the pool and beach with the husband & BBQ's with the family. So many activities planned for this summer!

We've found a new favorite time of day, and it's no longer the crack of dawn. Now that the sun doesn't set until after 9pm, it's absolutely perfect outside right before the sun sets and the breeze kicks in. It feels like magic.
