A Country Weekend

Since I've gotten through these past couple of weeks, I can finally take a moment and back track on my blog posts. Things have been nuts and I can finally take a deep breath.

The weekend of April 19th and 20th, my boyfriend played two concerts at the Back Forty Saloon in downtown GR.  That whole weekend was kind of a blur because everything seemed to happen at once.  I had been looking forward to that weekend ever since Steve booked the gigs, and I still can't believe how fast it came and went.

On Friday, I worked all day and my parents & grandparents came to visit me at my office right before 5pm so I could give them a tour and introduce them to some editorial folks at Mlive.  We headed down the road for an early dinner and then we attended the Mlive Movie Night, where a film I had worked on with Big Foot Films had been featured.

Directly after the event, I headed over to the Back Forty Saloon to catch the second set of Steve's show.  Steve's parents also came to Grand Rapids for their very first time.  What made these gigs so exciting for me is that he was finally playing in my city and building up his fan base in the area, rather than just in Canada. ;]  He also played with my best friend Tieka's boyfriend, Eric (on drums).  It's been so great having him around to meet and play with people in West Michigan.  (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will move here soon enough).

Saturday was another big day.  Steve, myself, and his parents headed to Muskegon to meet up with my family.  We headed to the Lake House to celebrate mine and my mother's birthdays.  After dinner, we headed back for Steve's second gig.  This night was AMAZING.  I had over 20 family members show up to this gig to support Steve and I was overwhelmed with joy.

Katelyn, her fiance', her mother, and Wayne. :)

The whole gang. :)

It was definitely a memorable night and I'm so happy that my friends and whole family were able to make it out.

Acoustic Night @ The Log Cabin

Last week while Steve was in town, he played a gig with the very talented Kari Lynch (of the Kari Lynch Band in Grand Rapids). They played an acoustic set at the Log Cabin Cocktail Lounge.

They are two talented singer/songwriters who play numerous gigs around the Midwest (And Canada for Steve) and they have been writing a couple tunes together!

If you haven't heard their music, check out Steve Rivers and Kari Lynch Band now!
