Day 2 of Girls Harvest Weekend was full of exciting activities. We woke up early to get a head start on our day and met downstairs for breakfast. The innkeepers were so generous and made delicious quiches, pancakes, and baked french toast. After breakfast, we bundled up and headed out on our mini bus to the downtown market.
First up was a cooking class with the Canning Diva. We made Blonde Apple Curry Chutney and Sundaes in a Jar (raspberry/strawberry/chocolate sauce). It was my first experience with canning foods that I made. I've always been fascinated by how my grandmother stores all of her fruits and vegetables. It was great to learn about the process and safety of canning properly. It's a lot of work!

When we finished canning our goodies, we let them sit in boiling water while we snacked on some of the pre-made creations. The table setting and centerpieces were so beautiful!

When the class was finished, we loaded back into the bus and headed off to
Robinette's Apple Haus for some wine tasting and lunch. We basically spent the entire day eating and drinking. Absolutely no complaints here. ;]
We took advantage of the last couple of days this season with leaves on the the trees. We ran across the street and snapped some photos in the fields of apple trees. By the end of the weekend, almost all of the trees in west Michigan were bare.
