A Family Weekend in Canada

Long time, no post. We apologize! :-P

It has been a crazy couple of weeks. I thought I would do a post on catching up, since SO much has happened since we last posted.

Two weekends ago (Friday, March 8th) I took the day off work and headed up to Canada with my parents.  Yep, my parents came to meet Steve's parents. Huge, I know.
For those who don't already know, Steven and I have been together since October and he is from Ontario, Canada.  We met down in Nashville, Tennessee, but that's an epic love story for another time. ;]

So anyway, the big meet and greet with the parents went really great! We met up Friday night at Walker's Fish Market in Burlington.

Saturday we headed up to Niagara Falls with my parents where we drove through several wineries, walked around, got splashed on by water falls, and saw some rainbows.

 

That same night, Steve had a gig at the Dirty Dog Saloon in Hamilton, ON.  It was a fun night of spending time with my family, his family, and all of his best friends

On Sunday, we grabbed breakfast and headed back to Grand Rapids together.  Steve spent the week here in Michigan where he played some gigs with the very talented Kari Lynch, perform at open mic night, and spend some lazy days with myself and Syrus.

Love is a Verb

I had a Valentine this year.

Last  year on February 14th, I spent the day at work, picked up some Sushi on my commute back home, picked up a bottle of red, plopped my butt on the floor and enjoyed my fancy dinner for 1 while watching the Red Wings.  But don't get me wrong, I didn't complain.  That's just how you roll when you're single.

But this year was different.

I still worked all day.  But instead of takeout and hockey, Steven had dinner cooked and ready for me when I walked in the door.
(The hockey comes later.. I got us Red Wings vs. Predators tickets for next weekend.)

Came home to this. :)

Syrus wanted some.

 

 Dinner was delicious.  But now that I know he can cook, he has no idea what he's in for.
;]

I followed up by making him some V-day desserts.  Cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries!

 

 The evening was absolutely perfect.  It was so nice to have a Valentine this year.  I forgot how nice it can be to share days like this with someone special.
And I don't just mean Steven.  Syrus was just as much my Valentine this year. :)

A Nashville New Year

Hey ya'll.

This past weekend I rang in the new year with my boyfriend and two friends/coworkers in downtown Nashville, TN (which, as most of you already know, is my favorite city EVER). 

We made the 9 hour drive down from Grand Rapids on Saturday morning and stayed until Tuesday.  Since Steve lives in Nashville part-time, he knew of some fun things we could do.

NOTE: Please forgive the horrible quality photos.  I forgot to bring my T2i on the trip, so these were all taken with my iPhone. :| 

After we arrived to the hotel, we settled in and and made some drinks at the hotel.  We had way too much fun with the camera.

Once we got ready, we went downtown for some dinner, beers, and then headed to Paradise Park for some live music and cheap pitchers.

Sunday consisted of a continental breakfast, some shopping in Green Hills, Trader Joes, authentic Mexican dinner & fishbowl margaritas, and some bar hopping in Midtown.

Monday we decided to get up, grab some breakfast at Noshville, and head downtown for some wandering, shopping, and sight-seeing.

 Since they had concerts and the 'dropping of the music note' in the downtown district, we hung out there but were rained out before midnight.  Regardless of missing the music note drop, we had a fantastic time and I wouldn't have traded it for the world.

Nashville has always been, and will forever continue to be my favorite city.  I have so many great memories of Tennessee from my childhood and can't wait to build new memories. :)
